I purchased the Airgenerate Airtap heat pump water heater because of the stainless steel tank, 
high efficiency and reputation for quality. I use a solar hot water preheater. My oil boiler was still using about 290 gallons of oil a year just to heat the domestic hot water. As we heat the house with wood I wanted to eliminate expensive oil use.
I keep it in heat pump only mode. Even on multiple cloudy days when I am not getting hot water from the sun, the Airtap keeps up with our demand. We are very pleased.
